Composition: 60% Zinfandel, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon; Oak: 90% French oak, 10% American oak, 40% New Oak, 60% Second Vintage
Winemaker Notes
This mountain-grown wine displays robust aromas of cherry and blackberry cobbler, with a hint of fresh-brewed espresso. The palate is equally expressive, with flavors of blueberry, black tea and black currants. A bold tannin structure adds complexity to this intense and voluptuous wine.
Production
2012 offered near-perfect growing conditions. Warm weather during bloom allowed the vines to set a large crop with increased yields were the result of more berries, not larger berries. Slightly cooler-than-average post-veraison weather, and a lack of any heat events allowed for greatly extended hang time. Harvest was 2-3 weeks later than average, and the grapes arrived at the winery in pristine condition.
