Production Notes
Composition: 66% Zinfandel, 28% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot; Oak: 70% French Oak, 25% American Oak, 40% New Oak, 60% Second Vintage
Winemaker Notes
Rich berry cobbler aromas rise from the glass, underscored by layers of holiday spice and lavender. On the palate, lush and alluring flavors of red cherry confectionary glide across soft approachable tannins.
Production
2012 offered near-perfect growing conditions. Warm weather during bloom allowed the vines to set a large crop with increased yields were the result of more berries, not larger berries. Slightly cooler-than-average post-veraison weather, and a lack of any heat events allowed for greatly extended hang time. Harvest was 2-3 weeks later than average, and the grapes arrived at the winery in pristine condition.
