2017 Paraduxx Howell Mountain Napa Valley Red Wine
Sold Out
Our Vineyard Series is a collection of limited-production wines that offer their own variations on the contemporary style of our Paraduxx red blends. While taking inspiration from the famed Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah blends of Southern Australia, this wine is also shaped by its Howell Mountain origins, where high elevations, a unique climate and volcanic soils yield epic wines. The result is a wine with the bold structure and blackberry notes of mountain Cabernet Sauvignon and the rich dark fruit and white pepper character of Syrah.

Winemaker Notes
Intense, complex and cerebral, this wine begins with dark, brooding aromas of blackberry, plum, cedar cigar box, allspice and cracked peppercorns. The palate offers robust mountain tannins that add structure and depth to the dark berry and black cherry flavors, with notes of tar, mocha and nutmeg pleasantly lingering on the long, resonant finish.
Production
Winter rains were followed by a warm, dry spring in Napa Valley that led to a perfectly timed budbreak. With lovely weather throughout summer, all of our white varieties were harvested before a week-long heat event during the last week of August, resulting in Chardonnay and Viognier with excellent acids and enticing aromas. Because the early-season rains produced healthy canopies, our red grapes developed perfectly during the heat. After a timely cooldown that provided additional hangtime, our reds were harvested in September and early October, yielding bold and robust wines with beautifully polished tannins.
