Winemaker Notes
This wine exudes alluring aromas of plum, currant, cherry, pomegranate and cracked peppercorns, as well as hints of cranberry, strawberry, savory smoked meats and herbs de Provence. The vibrant red fruit flavors are echoed on the palate, where they are accentuated by bright acidity and smooth, weighty tannins. As the wine evolves, notes of violet, clove, coffee bean and cocoa powder emerge, carrying the wine to a long resonant finish.
Production
In Napa Valley, a mild spring and summer, with no significant heat events, pushed the beginning of harvest back a full four weeks from our average start date. In addition to providing abundant hangtime, the temperate weather ensured that the fruit was able to preserve excellent natural acidity. Because the cool weather continued into autumn, we were able to assess and pick each block at ideal ripeness. One of the most noteworthy elements of the growing season was the fact that the grapes were able to develop beautiful, fully ripe flavors, at lower Brix. As a result, the wines are both elegant and complex, with excellent energy and acidity, and lovely varietal character.

Luscious notes of jam fruits with a fizzle of dark chocolate and opulent tannins. The Syrah and Grenache blend nuanced peppery undertones into the complex but expected profile. This wine pairs exceptionally well with acidic foods, especially tomato based dishes but would also drink beautifully served with grilled red meat.
